Chaparral is a shrub native to the Western United States with the unique ability to perennially survive, revive and regenerate after being destroyed by drought or fire. Like a season it returns year after year. It's also what Spyderco calls a new and continuing series of gentlemen's folders.
Mid-sized Chaparral folders will have identical blade and handle profiles but showcase variant handle materials. Handle options will be chosen for their elegant appearance and functional utility with a focus directed at making the Chaparral series unique as well as a serious contender in the gent's knife genre. Possibly Spyderco's thinnest, lightest mid-sized CLIPIT.
C152CFP: the debut Chaparral has a carbon fiber/G-10 laminate handle with a mid-positioned back lock and screw-together construction.
One of the newest additions to this best-selling family is the Chaparral Lightweight C152PGY, which offers the same design theme and functionality as its brothers, but with a simple, reliable, and affordable injection-molded handle. Its tough fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) construction minimizes weight and offers the high-traction advantages of our Bi-Directional Texturing pattern, while its nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners ensure excellent structural strength and precise alignment of all key components.
This unique version of the Chaparral C152RNP features full stainless steel liners and smoke-colored Raffir Noble scales. Manufactured in Denmark, Raffir is a strikingly beautiful composite material that encapsulates metal mesh in a durable, translucent epoxy resin. The Raffir Noble pattern combines a smoke-colored acrylic with a mixture of brass and copper mesh. When machined and polished to create knife scales, it reveals a unique, semi-transparent, three-dimensional pattern with amazing visual depth and character.
Attached to the ultra-slim handle, a left-right, tip-up clip arranges the knife deeply inside a pocket. Carpenter Technology Co. produces the CTS XHP powdered steel used for the leaf-shaped blade. The blade is ground full-flat and offered Plain Edged for the best available cutting performance with non-skid jimping located at both the spine and choil.
